PERSONAL RESPONSE OF STEVEN P. JOBS OF APPLE COMPUTER
TO MY TECHNOLOGY CRITICISM Introduction In 1999 I sent Steven P. Jobs, (former) CEO of Apple Computer, via email to sjobs@apple.com a lengthy critique and analysis of his latest generation of Macintosh design, both hardware and software. My document assessed the iMac, QuickTime, and other new or revised Apple technologies and products (excerpts therefrom pending here). Mr. Jobs personally responded: Vincent, Sorry you don't like our new look. Unfortunately, that's what we now sell. And, good news - we are selling more high end Macs than ever before. I bet our new look will grow on you if you give it a chance. Best, Steve Steve Jobs was widely known as a brilliant, though extremely impatient, man. Given this, as well as his industry and company stature, and schedule, that he allocated and took the time to actually read, then respond to my lengthy technology critique speaks to the seriousness with which he considered my criticism. Which, itself, speaks to the credibility and excellence of the writing. Let me do the same for you! |
